AIRC24 RESULTS

We tabulate below the contribution made by our club members to our overall score by recording the medal winning achievements of each participant.

It was a fun day with participation in each event made possible for us by the technical skills and enthusiasm of Aulay coupled with the organisational expertise of Haley that combined to give us a stress free environment to concentrate on the racing.

Thanks again to you both, thanks also due to O2 Performance Gymnasium for the loan of all the Concept2 RowErgs and a special shout out to all our 18 medal winners. A truely phenomenal effort.

The SCIRC was declared the winning Club of the whole Regatta, winning with a score of 622 and by a huge margin over the 2nd placed Club of Loretto Marryatville in Adelaide who totalled 352 points.

3rd placed Launceston Grammar scored 345 points.

All in all a total of almost 90 clubs, schools, and other groups plus numerous individuals participated against us. You may view the full details at:
  AIRC24 Club Points

One final point of interest for all Members and our supporters is that this result places the SCIRC top of the indoor rowing community in Australia having won the top spot in the last three consecutive years in this major competition.

We look forward to welcoming many new Members in the coming months who, like us, intend making it four in a row in 2025.

Individual Medal Winners at the AIRC24

Tabulated below are the 18 Club Members whose individual performances earnt medals and points for the Club that placed the SCIRC top overall in the Regatta.

Well done all for such a huge turnout and effort.

Additionally, a number of Australian records were broken and are also recorded below.

We have listed a 19th individual who, as a Member to our Club, was unable to compete on the day but had planned ahead and entered the competition officially and had correctly recorded results at two events that almost certainly would have earnt him Gold. Unfortunately and despite strenuous efforts by President Wendy Coghill, these results have been rejected by the Organising Body.

We give a “shout out” to Adam Jackson who is listed below with additional information regarding the circumstances of Adam’s efforts.

Competitions in 2025

There are 3 indoor rowing competitions in 2025, these are listed in chronological order:

Anzac Day Challenge of rowing as many 2,504 m on the 25th April in respect and memory of those who fought in the Gallipoli Campaign, Turkey during the First World War.

The Queensland Championships in June, Sunday the 8th to be precise. The Committee would like you to know that organisation for this event has to start in January as experience has shown that it takes ages to get everything sorted. Please add this event into your 2025 calendar if you are intending to compete.

The AIRC25 in October. Still quite a way, away. Let’s hope the processes will be improved from the “lessons learnt” from 2024.

About the Club

The Sunshine Coast Indoor Rowing Club is a community club offering the opportunity for everyone in the community to enjoy indoor rowing. From under 10’s to over 80’s, indoor rowing is the ideal way to exercise for fun and fitness.

Indoor rowing is an effective full body, non-impact workout that exercises every major muscle group when used with the correct technique. This makes it a huge calorie burner while at the same time you can gain core strength and aerobic fitness. It is an excellent method of cross-training for those involved in other sports.

These rowing machines can also cater for those with a disability in the category LTA.  That is they have the use of their legs, trunks and arms.

Our club is a group of people who come together every Saturday to learn the correct technique for using the Concept2 rowing machine (also know as an ergometer), in a relaxed and fun environment. For those who are motivated by competition to train, there are a number of indoor rowing competitions held throughout the country and overseas during the year. Annually, we run the Queensland Championships on the Sunshine Coast.

All are invited to come to these weekly training sessions, either to just watch or have a row.
